About Me
Hi there, I’m Jake Moreno, a 35-year-old self-taught chef based in Asheville, North Carolina. I didn’t learn in culinary school or a professional kitchen. I discovered the joy of cooking in my apartment after long workdays and a deep craving for something more meaningful than fast food. That was the beginning of my path as a self-taught chef.
One evening, I decided to make a chicken pie like my mom used to bake. It wasn’t perfect. The crust came out uneven and the seasoning needed work. But something in that moment sparked a new curiosity. The chopping, the aroma, the act of creating something with care made me feel connected and alive. That small experience changed the way I saw food.
Since then, my focus has been on helping busy moms and beginners feel confident in their kitchens. I believe that great meals don’t require expensive tools or professional training. All it takes is a little patience, a bit of creativity, and the desire to bring people together around food. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way, and each one taught me something valuable. That is why I love sharing honest, real-world cooking tips that actually work.
If you are just getting started or want meals that are quick and comforting, I invite you to explore my page for easy dinner recipes. For trusted cooking techniques and in-depth food knowledge, I often recommend Serious Eats, a site I personally turn to for inspiration and guidance.
As a proud self-taught chef, I believe food should be simple, generous, and rooted in real life. Whether you are feeding a family or learning to cook for the first time, I’m here to help. If you ever have questions or just want to say hello, please feel free to contact me. I’d love to connect and support your journey in the kitchen.
